OCAD Alternative Formats Report
Research Assistant, Diversity and Equity, OCAD University (2013)
A comparative research project for OCAD University's Diversity and Equity office, analysing how six Ontario institutions provide alternative format materials to students with disabilities. This was where I learned to think in systems. I mapped the full process from the student's perspective, from intake and registration through to production and delivery of materials in braille, large print, audio, and electronic text, identifying where the gaps and friction points were. The research compared each institution's approach against seamless service criteria and AODA requirements, and produced recommendations for OCAD to improve their alternative format services using Universal Design principles.
